Definition post - Style:

Definition post - Style:

Internet definition: A distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed.

This image is an example of how style can be exampled in advertisement. This piece from YSL is advertising a new lipstick. This image shows style as the whole set up for the picture has been based around the colour red as its the colour of the lipstick. The model takes up the majority of the frame showing what the lipstick looks like on the lips. To the right of the frame the actual product itself is shown, this standout here as it contrasts with the red background drawing in attention to what the person would actually be buying.

This image is an example of beauty products showing style. The way this image is framed is so that it can show all of the different colours that are in the pallet. This shows style as its showing the style of the product its self i.e. the packaging as the eyeshadows. Style can also be inferred from this image as you can see that a number of different makeup looks can be created from this pallet and it therefore would be able to be used by many different people to create a number of different styles.

Personal definition: Something that can be found in everyday life and can be a slightest difference. I.e the same shoes but in different colours.

Multiple imagery - image bank

Multiple imagery - image bank:

The image above is a multiple imagery of one person that has been photographed at different angles and then mixed around in a multiple imagery. This is a more interesting way of showing some photographs and is more entertaining for the eye.  It a more creative way for photographers to show their work.

The image above is a less obvious multiple imagery but is still a multiple imagery. Again this is a more creative way to show the photographs and to show scene. I would like to attempt something like this in my project as i think that its very creative and breaks away from the typical multiple imageries.

Above is another example of a typical multiple imagery and has been used to show the picture of the tree in a more interesting way. This is achieved as the tree has been distorted for the image to be achieved and more exciting.

The image above is an example of a multiple imagery being used as a part of a sequence. This is effective as you can tell stories and show journeys with you image. i think this is something i would like to do with my project as it would be an new thing to do when looking at multiple imagery.

The two images above and below show a multiple imagery being used as a sequence again but this time it being a fluid sequence that progresses into the next image. In the image above the different shape adds to the originality of the image. The image below is effective because of the transformation in colours. This is a interesting style to look at as its different and is a creative way to look at colours of the same scene.

Topic proposal:

Topic proposal

For Unit 3 of photography i get to design my own brief. I have decided that the starting point/focus point of my project will be style. When thinking over topic ideas style became a immediate thought of mine as i decided that it opened a lot of different opportunities for me to look at, and gave me the flexibility to elaborate on my own ideas.

One of the things i thought i could look at within the topic of style was the style of appearance, i felt that this is something that would be a good starting point for me to develop on as well as something i could look at. I have decided i would look at style of clothing, make up and hair while looking at appearance. i feel like this idea could show a touch of personality and beauty which are two different topics that i was considering.

These to images up are and example of how i could look at style through the idea of beauty and the use of make up. I think that this idea would be best achieved through simple techniques and possible a video to show someone doing their make up. I could also create a animation and so each step someone takes doing their make up. Another possibility would be to create a sequence comparing different beauty looks.

In the two images above the idea of style is being shown through the  clothes that people wear. I think that this is a good way to show a persons individual style as well as include their personality. I think that including personality here would be a investing and fun thing to look at as i would be able to make every single shoot i do different for each person.

I also have other ideas to look at like cars and technology and look at the way that these have progressed over time to reach the style and model that they have today. I think that this topic will be really enjoyable for me and i think that i will be able to show a development in my photography skills.

Multiple flash - image bank

Multiple flash - image bank:

The images above and below are two examples of multiple flash. In these images you can see the arms and object move from each stage in the photo. This is another way of showing sequence photography as you can clearly see each stage move on.

In the two images above and below the transitions are not as clear but still work to show the sequence. In the image above the use of colour helps to make the transition standout and to see the different parts of the photo and see where each separate flash has been taken. The same happens below where you can see all of the arms of the girl, this is effective as its a creative look on this photograph.

In the image above you can see the sections of the different cards. Again this is creative as it looks as though there are many cards falling where there's only one. The image below shows facial expressions on one man, you can see that after each flash he has moved and pulled a different face.

Multiple flash- work diary

Multiple flash - work diary:

In todays session we was working on the technique multiple flash. This technique uses a number of flashes during the time that the shutter of the camera is shut, to pick up different movements or uses of light and expresses them in one photograph. I found this session to be quite similar to slow sync as the same sort of image is produced.

Progression:

I found that this was a good technique to use as it is a fun and creative way of using photography. However for me personally i don't really see a way that i could incorporate this technique into my project.

The images above and below are both effective examples of multiple flash. In the image above you can see the dancer making their way across the stage  and the different movements her arms and legs take. I think that this is an idea that i would like to use if i choose to include this technique into my project.

The image below is like something that i have already attempted. In this image you can clearly make out all of the arms in each individual space that they take. Again this is a good example of a multiple flash photograph as the main effect has been achieved.

Above and below are a example of my attempts at multiple flash photography. The image above is an attempt at photographing my class mate as she walks across the frame. I personally don't lie the image as i think that it has come out to squashed together, you can see this in her legs that are either had to make out or look to small.

The image below is a better attempt at this although i still don't think its quite right. In this image Lauren has been photographed each time that she has turned around. The end result has produced Lauren looking in different directions. I think that to parts of the photo where she is looking at the two sides have worked for this photograph, however when she was looking front on, the image has merged with the others around it and has come our under exposed.
